About Emma
I have lived in Felixstowe for a very long time! I went to school here, raised my family here, it is the place I call home, so it seems appropriate that Felixstowe is where my counselling journey takes place.
I work from home in a private room which has been designed to offer a relaxing space for you to talk freely. We won’t be disturbed as the
children have long gone, and my husband and the cat are well behaved.
I would be delighted to work with you in person, but I do understand that for many people it is easier to meet online; I offer both approaches, at your convenience.

These are the types of issues that I have worked with but am not limited to; we are
all unique!

Tailored to you
Every client is unique, so sessions are carefully shaped around your
specific requirements and goals.
Person-centred
The work focuses entirely on you, your experiences, and what you hope to achieve in our time together.
Honest & Supported
I offer warm, empathetic and honest communication. I believe that honesty is integral to a successful therapeutic relationship and I am consistent in this approach, even if it may sometimes be a bit challenging for us both.
Privacy & Confidentiality
I offer a safe and private environment in which to explore your goals.

What is pluralistic psychotherapeutic counselling?
Well, it’s similar to integrative counselling because we may use approaches from different counselling theories, such as CBT, Psychodynamic and Humanistic, but pluralistic counselling focuses on the collaboration between the therapist and the client, with the work being client led rather than decided on by the therapist. Regular feedback from the client is used to guide the direction of the sessions.
This approach supports the importance of encouraging people to find their own
answers, to decide on their own achievable and sustainable changes, to appreciate the learning from setbacks and to value themselves as a vital part of their healing journey.

My Ethos
The answers are within you.
You cannot change others, only yourself.
Change is possible, one small step at a time.
You cannot control others, only yourself.
Self-preservation leads to empowerment.
Self-care: I am a great believer in the restorative power of being outside and moving. For me, it’s walking, for you it may be something else like running or cycling.
Saying it out loud. Getting thoughts out of your head so that you are not carrying them around all day. This can be done whilst walking. Yes, I talk to myself!
Thinking about what you are eating and drinking; are you really giving yourself the best chance to thrive? Physical and mental wellbeing are closely connected!
Why did I become a counsellor?
For nearly 20 years I have worked with young people, families and parents, supporting them through many of the wide variety of challenges that life can present. I have worked with a broad range of people, including those who are neurodivergent and members of the LGBTQ+ community. In recent years, I had found that the issues arising were becoming more and more complex, leading me to feel out of my depth on how best to support people.
Training and qualifying as a pluralistic psychotherapeutic counsellor has given me the skills and resources to walk alongside my clients; to be an empowering nurturing companion, assisting them to foster a positive sense of self-worth.
